This Months Hike

The Aspen Draw trail is an old trail that takes you through a beautiful pine forest with breath-taking views of the North side of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The hike is 3.2 miles round trip starting at an elevation of 8400 feet climbing to an elevation of 8950 feet. A small creek runs through the area, which guarantees lots of vegetation as well as a better chance of seeing mammals particularly in the early morning or late evening. Birds (wild turkey, hermit thrush, house wren, black-headed grosbeak, red-faced, hermit, virginia, grace's, townsend's, black-throated gray, to name a few of the warblers) are a given because of the water. I have seen Mountain Lion and Bear, lots of squirrels.
